Job Description

Civic Theatre’s Marketing Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the organization's marketing and public relations strategies, plans, and budget.


Set and facilitate annual and long-range marketing plans, promotional and outreach strategies along with the associated budgets, in order to support the Theatre’s overall business strategy for increased sales, other earned revenue, community, and philanthropic support.

Develop and implement marketing, advertising, and publicity plans and tactics in all mediums (including broadcast, print, digital/interactive, and social media) to achieve continued growth for the organization's three industry segments: Theatre, Arthouse Cinema, and Civic Theatre School while maximizing the organization's overall profile.

Manage production and distribution of all marketing material, including playbills, brochures, flyers, and associated collateral along with digital marketing, promotion, and content including website and social media.

Manage media relationships for advertising, cross-promotions, and sponsorships.

Contribute to defining and creating promotions for special events, facility rentals, and community programming.

Perform a variety of skilled administrative tasks directly related to marketing and advertising, including but not limited to database entry and list management.

Attend staff, board, committee, and event meetings as appropriate and requested.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Minimum three to five years’ experience in non-profit marketing. Experience in performing arts marketing is a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, time management, and organization skills are required.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and work with minimal direction and supervision; lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, and experience in meeting related deadlines.
  • Ability to uphold a tone of professionalism, collaboration, respect, and confidentiality, both internally and externally, while maintaining composure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet literacy is required; knowledge of Salesforce software and Adobe InDesign is useful.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Salary Range: $42,500 - $50,000
