Keep Our Students in the Spotlight!
Civic restored the main area of the 19th Street Theatre to its amazing Art Deco grandeur in the first and second phases of our capital campaign. But away from the public view is the second floor, perhaps the most important space in the building. Why? Because the second floor is where our beloved, talented students learn not only the skills that will allow them to perform and enjoy theatre but also the skills that will enable them to better communicate, work with others to solve problems, and become our leaders of tomorrow.
Positioning Our Education Spaces for the Future
Phase three plans include replacing all second floor windows, renovating and modernizing the classroom/rehearsal studios and the costume shop, and preserving and weatherizing the 19th Street Theatre façade. This phase will ensure our educational/rehearsal spaces are safe and comfortable, and will conclude the renovation and restoration of Civic’s historic home to preserve it as a preeminent Lehigh Valley cultural institution for generations to come. Help keep Civic’s students in the spotlight by supporting our $1.1M Kapital for Kids campaign.
Nurturing Professionalism Since 1956
While we all may enjoy some of our students on professional stages, or in the movies, or prime time television series, Civic also has had the pleasure of watching our alumni make their mark in the world of medicine, law, education, corporate finance, entrepreneurship, and any profession you might name. Participation in theatre classes and watching stories unfold on stages are the common factors that connect each and every past and present student to the other.
