514Works: Civic's New Community Arts Program
.There's a lot of talent out there in the Lehigh Valley — and this new program is our way of giving some of that talent a platform, in our new Theatre514 black box performance space. Four times this season, community directors will present small-scale works — original plays, staged readings, cabarets ... you name it. Dates and times are listed in the calendar below. Contact us to find out how to participate, and watch the web site to find out what's coming up!

|
|
April 29 - May 1:
|
|
The Carnahans return with their original piece Shakespeare and Friends.

V-Day Fundraiser: The Vagina Monologues
.Last year's benefit performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues was such a success that we plan to repeat the event this season. The performance, presented in association with Ensler's V-Day Worldwide Campaign to stop violence against women and girls, raised $6,000 for Turning Point of Lehigh Valley.
Civic Theatre School
.Young actors in grades 1-12 explore the stage and themselves in this weekly program, Sept. 11 - Nov. 6 and Jan. 8 - March 12. Find out more!
Civic In Action: The Improv Comedy Club for Teens
.
Some of Civic's young performers got together last season to create this group, whose members meet monthly to hone their Whose Line Is It Anyway-style improv skills. Their lively meetings are open to ninth- through twelfth-graders, who may participate or just watch, as they feel comfortable. Location and meeting times vary, and dates are tentative; check the web site to confirm. Meetings are chaperoned.

Adult Acting Classes
.If you've always wanted to get up there yourself, this is your chance to give it a try, in a supportive and creative environment — or, if you've already got some acting chops, to continue to explore the craft. Sessions are led by an experienced theatre director/teacher, and will include two introductory courses and two seminars for more advanced students. Enroll now for the first intro session, Oct. 25-29, or contact us for more information — and stay tuned to the newsletter and web site. Find out more!
19th Street Film Series
.Civic's popular 19th Street Film Series is the Lehigh Valley's exclusive source for independent and international films. Recent highlights include Lost in Translation, Winged Migration, and Girl with the Pearl Earring. Check the web site to read movie descriptions, check showtimes, and sign up to get schedules by mail.
Auditions & Volunteering
.An important part of Civic's mission is to give talented non-professional performers the chance to work with and learn from our accomplished professional director and staff. We welcome new faces! Check the Callboard page for dates, times and guidelines.
.If you're not the performing type, there are plenty of other ways to get involved. Civic counts on loyal volunteers, from the ushers to the board of directors. Contact us if you'd like to get involved!
