First Fifty Years

by John Flautz of the Allentown Morning Call
50th Anniversary Program, 1977
Notes

1. With the 1996-97 season, the 1988-present production of A Christmas Carol surpassed Papa Is All for total number of performances. It is still an annual event and probably Civic Theatre's Abie's Irish Rose. Back

2. Currently Civic produces four or five mainstage shows per season, plus four shows for young audiences, concerts, and special events. The Artistic Director, William Sanders, directs or co-directs most of the mainstage shows each season. Back

3. The "ultramodern light board of seventeen years ago" - now 44 years ago - has since been replaced four times. Back

7. We've since broken this record. The 2000-01 season saw 19,394 total paid admissions. Television is losing ground. Back

8. Sign of the times: 27 years has converted this to "When is this outfit gonna buy a real screwgun?" However, I think the blue satin gown goes yet unclaimed in the costume storage. And we just found the pineapple... Back
